Health promotion and disease prevention programs are available for persons aged 60 and over throughout the State of Maryland. Health risk assessments, counseling and referral, physical fitness activities and wellness are key components

A variety of health-related activities are available through Senior Centers and community centers in every county across the state. Activities that may be available near you include:

  • Yoga and Tai Chi
  • Falls Prevention
  • Diabetes and High Blood Pressure Screening
  • Hiking, Kayaking and more!

Living Well

Living Well is a six- week program that helps people learn the skills to manage chronic symptoms and get the most out of life. This program provides adults ages 18 and older and/or their caregivers with the strategies to take charge of their health.

Participants learn:

  • Holistic nutrition;
  • Relaxation techniques;
  • Healthy exercise routines;
  • Effective communication strategies for working with healthcare providers; and,
  • Positive coping skills for managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and high blood pressure.
